Yes Season, No Season

Yes Season, No Season

Every time you say “yes” to one thing, you’re saying “no” to something else, right?

Some productivity gurus use this concept to suggest that you should always vigilantly guard your time, by saying “NO” to anything that doesn’t completely align with your purpose or vision.

After all, time is the one resource that we can’t replenish.

But I approach it differently.

There are seasons in my life where I deliberately say “yes” to new things that are outside of my comfort zone, not on my agenda, and in full service to others. Why? Because I’ve noticed that in the YES seasons is when new doors open and opportunities arise.

Then there are other seasons where I say “no” to anything that isn’t directly related to my goals. In these times, I focus deeply on my family, my work, my projects, and little else. I’ve noticed that during my NO seasons is when massive growth occurs.

Both are equally important.

When I’m asked to do something, the decision is easy because I’ve predetermined which season I’m operating in right now.

I try to not have a one-sided approach to things. Instead, I understand and appreciate the benefits of both seasons.

Embrace the ebb and flow.
