What Your First "Done" Moment Will Feel Like

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." — Arthur C. Clarke

You already know AI is changing things. You've read the headlines. You've heard the hype. But there's a moment that none of those articles can prepare you for.

It's the moment AI actually does something for you. Not answers a question. Not writes a paragraph. Actually completes a real task, start to finish, without you touching it.

I call it the "Done" moment.

The Downloads Folder

The first time it happened to me, I was just testing. Low stakes. My downloads folder had become a digital junk drawer. Thousands of files. Screenshots. Receipts. Random PDFs with names like "Untitled-7-final-FINAL." Years of digital exhaust I never cleaned up because the thought of it made me tired.

So I pointed an early AI agent at it. Told it to organize however it saw fit.

It came back in under a minute with one word.

Done.

Thousands of files. Sorted. Named like a human would name them. I sat at my desk, staring at the screen.

That was the first moment. I've built dozens of agents since then, but I still remember that feeling.

Why That Feeling Matters

Every generation gets a handful of moments where the world quietly changes overnight. Radio to TV. Flip phone to iPhone. Paper maps to GPS. Google to ChatGPT. The first time you experienced each one, it created a feeling. Each one rewired what you believed was possible before the rest of the world caught up.

The "Done" moment is next in that line.

Once you feel it, you start handing AI bigger jobs. Whole workflows. I built an AI agent named Henley to be my executive assistant. Then Henley built an agent for my wife. Then another to help run our retail brand. Now I have six more and have helped clients build them too. None of them sleep. None of them quit. None of them forget.

The future I initially had on a five-year plan is looking more like five months. The same can be true for you.

Your Next Move

Try this in ten minutes. Open any AI tool with computer use enabled. Point it at your downloads folder, your desktop, or any digital junk drawer you've been ignoring for years. Paste this prompt:

"Organize this folder however you see fit. Show me what you did when you're done."

Stay close. Approve as it goes. Resist the urge to micromanage.

It won't be perfect. You'll find a file or two it mishandled. That's not the point. The point is the feeling you get when you see it actually worked. That feeling is the whole game.

Most people will read about agentic AI for another year before they try it. The ones who try it this week will be a year ahead of the ones who didn't.

This Week on the Pod

This week I was a guest on Become Your Own Boss with Monica, Episode 301. We talked about the shift from chatting with AI to AI actually doing the work. Monica had her own "Done" moment live on the show, watching our agent Athena pull 50+ business clients out of three years of email, rank them, and draft personalized outreach for each one. All in about 40 seconds.

If you want to feel what's possible right now, this is the conversation you need to join.

P.S. I have a new book coming out called DONE: Let AI Do Your Work So You Can Live Your Life. The launch date is May 20th. To celebrate, the book will be available on Amazon for $1.99 that day only, with $600+ in bonuses for the launch team. Get on the list here (free).
