Once upon a time, a young man named Ruben Gonzalez wrote to Sports Illustrated magazine, asking where he could learn how to luge.
Legend has it that the magazine mailed him back a photograph of a man racing on a luge. Ruben framed the photo, and placed it in his room where he could see it from his bed every morning when he woke up.
“Every morning, the first person I saw when I woke up was ‘The Luge Man,'” says Ruben. “Seeing ‘The Luge Man’ was a constant reminder that I was training for the Olympics. He reminded me to eat right, to work out, and to surround myself with winners. At night, before turning out the lights, the last person I saw was ‘The Luge Man.’ All night long, I dreamt about the luge and the Olympics.”
During the day, the picture focused Reuben’s conscious mind on the dream. At night, it conditioned his unconscious mind.
Despite growing up in hot Texas, and not knowing how to ski or skate, Ruben Gonzalez went on to become a 4-time Winter Olympian.
We must always remember that thoughts are things.
The moment you have a thought, electrical impulses are fired around your brain. The more you think that thought, the greater the number of impulses.
Then the moment you speak that thought, it now exists in the real world.
Albert Einstein taught us that energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another. So your thought has now changed into the form of sound waves, vibrations, because you spoke it into existence.
Through action, these sound waves eventually change into matter. Perhaps in the form of money in your bank account, physical disease leaving your body, the right person entering your life, or even you competing in the Olympics.
Since a thought is energy that never dies, it will transform into physical matter one way or the other. That’s why we’ve all had a great idea, but never acted on it, and someone else beat us to it. The energy was ready to be manifested into reality, but we weren’t yet ready to act, so it found another way.
Dream it. See it. Believe it…but you must act to achieve it.
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your reputation,
Your reputation becomes your character.
It all starts with your thoughts.
“He who says he can and he who says he can’t are both usually right.”– Confucius
As a young boy, I dreamed of earning lots of money being a visual artist. In more recent years, I visualized a pool in my backyard, the cars that I drive, my physical fitness, and having a healthy family. It hasn’t always been a smooth journey, but all of these things came into existence. Not always in the exact way that I predicted, and not always in the exact time frame that I wanted…but they all came true.
What are you dreaming? What are you seeing? What are you becoming?
